Very Vouge Vicar

I broke out the white collar for University today
and I must say I felt like I was masquerading as a priest!
- hence the title of today's post.

Green juice - an introduction and recipe

Have you been watching the health nuts of the world post day and night
about their green juices? Have you wondered how, what and why
they are so popular? Lets take a look at the famous green juice.

All the girls in knee high socks

What's the one good thing about this cold, gloomy winters day?
My new socks of course (...and free time, hot chocolates, movie marathons, cuddles with the dog etc.)

My Musical Method for Surviving Exams

I have been a student for  81% of my life so far. This means I had a lot of stressful assignments, tests and exams in my time.

Since I've been in the thick of exam revision and final assignment I have found some songs to lighten my mood...

Cookies: Date vs Chocolate

I was listening to an audio book version of 'The Secret Lives of Dresses' the other day and the character made some cookies.
Since then I couldn't get the idea of cookies out of my head... so I caved. I put down my exam revision notes and made some.

Photo Diary - Day at the beach..

It may be wet and wintry in much of the southern hemisphere these
days, but on a day when the sun is out and the temperature is somewhat up...
well I like to make the most of it!

A Scone Recipe Fit For a Queen

Calling all high tea lovers. Are you constantly on the hunt for that perfect scone recipe? No? Well that's a pity because this one is great!

This weekend being the Queen's Birthday long weekend it has been a nice chance to catch up with my sister, Anna. What better way to celebrate the Queen's Birthday than with tea and scones.

My May Playlist

May is done and dusted for 2014 and what a May it has been! The music I'm about to talk about has made up the theme songs of my May. Some of these songs are fun, some are nostalgic and some are simply beautiful. Please enjoy them and let me know what you have been listening to.

Market Chatting

I am a self-confessed Market lover. I love car boot sales and bric-a-brac, I love food markets, I love vintage clothes markets and if there aren't any markets on? Well you will likely find me in an op-shop or a quirky cafe trying to get my fix!

Adelaide has a bit of an up and coming market scene with the Fishermen's Wharf Market, the Brighton Car Boot Sale, Adelaide Night Market, Dapper Market and Gillies Street Market just to name a few!

Today I would like to discuss a relatively new kid on the block

The Market Shed
What: Produce and food market emphasising certified organic, sustainable and local produce.
Where: 1 Holland Street (City), Adelaide, South Australia 5000 (behind Gilbert St IGA)
When: Sunday 9 - 2

Founded in August of 2013 it has built up an incredible following in just months. The Market Shed is a food lovers heaven and a people watchers dream. It is a hub of people who share an interest in healthy lifestyle, sustainability, organic produce but most of all food!

I confess that one short blog post is hardly enough to do justice to the energy, vibrancy and diversity of the Market Shed, but read on to get a glimpse!

Party Preparation Two - Those Delightful Details

This post is the second following after my post on party drinks here. And here I will be discussing the nitty gritty of a party (using examples from my 21st). I am no expert in the matter of party preparation but perhaps my thought processes could be useful!

To my mind the little details are what make something special, and translating this into a party situation is no different! Get ready for me gushing about fairy lights, serviettes, glasses, cushions, candles and general craziness!

Pumpkin, Rosemary and Feta Loaf Recipe

So the other day my Dad brought home this amazing piece of Pumpkin and Feta bread from a market. Because it was so expensive he could only justify buying the one piece, BUT he had hatched a cunning plan!

Feeling like detectives we slaved away studying this Pumpkin bread. So read on if you would like to find out how we made our version of this tasty treat!

Mid-Monday Song Lovin'

Monday's can be hectic and after the fun of the weekend they tend towards being an annoying reality check - at least mine are like that!

Here is my mid-monday chillout song for this week.

Miss Fancy Pants

These gorgeous teal silk pants were love at first sight for me. Thrifted from a local market they are elegant, modern, flattering and they feel just as daring and bold a choice for me today as I imagine they were when they were new. I'm sure they're not every girls cup of tea but when I put them on I feel so floaty and effortless that this doesn't bother me at all.

The Ultimate (Heathly) Choc, Nut Smoothie

Okay, okay. Vegetable ingredients. Health fad alert. I know what you're thinking. Honestly though, give this a chance and you won't regret it (hopefully).

I have always been a light eater when it comes to breakfast and this smoothie tastes awesome! So without further ado; my favourite healthy breakfast smoothie!

Pencil me in

This elegant little outfit is something I threw together the other day when the phrase 'all dressed up with nowhere to go' was given new life. If I were to give it a name I might call it a 'Work Drinks' outfit (Pity I don't have an office from which to go to post work drinks).

This is an outfit I could see suiting those elegant ladies (probably in their 20s, 30s or 40s) who just want to add a little bit of youth into their everyday look.

Party Preparation One - Dapper Drinks for Fancy Folks

Rather recently it was my 21st birthday and, as with all big birthdays in my family, there was a party to match the occasion! This party happened to be my first foray into party planning and I don't want to brag but I would say it was quite a success! This will be the first (in many) posts dedicated to sharing what things I used, big and small, for my 21st birthday celebration.

If you are: Having a family party? Maybe a date night? Or if you don't need any excuse to doll up your drinks read on to see the when, what, where, how and why of these beautiful drink glasses!

Thursday 10 April 2014

So I'm home from my travels and life is mostly back to normal!

I've visited England, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Italy to name a few. I've gotten the flu, slept in dorms for almost three months (minus the sleep part), been kicked out of dorms, spent nights on trains or in stations, met some crazy people, eaten more bratwurst than i thought humanly possible and made a lot of memories.

It's one of those happy/sad things, coming home, and I suppose it's  really a relief! Now i feel like I can really start to enjoy all of the memories I have made without all the stress of the moment!

If you want i could share a select story or two.. let me know!

I hope you all have excellent weekends,

Laura
